knock knock...
exactly 2 wks after my Bali trip... was chilling out in a freezing room in our family home in malacca... outside there were more den a hundred people enjoying the dinner buffet and catching up with one another... relatives n frenz mostly from m'sia n s'pore... koh poh chor was the star of the night as she sat in the living room receiving birthday wishes n gifts... koh chi janet was the one running bout entertaining guests n making sure dat all were in place... well, when ya mum is 91 years old n can still manage to move around independently n can eat n sleep well, it is truly a cause for celebration... in fact the elderly lady has better health den her younger daughter... ... the ironies in life...
somewhere not too far away, tragedy struck once again on the island of Bali. n i got the news firsthand from a Balinese friend whom i met exactly 2 wks ago... out of the norm for me to give him my mobile no... it's a good thing dat he msged me... so i knew he was safe n sound. v v v mixed feelings... felt sorry for the balinese who r slogging so hard everyday to meet ends meet n having jux picked themselves up from the disaster 2 yrs ago... now, they've to start building tourists' confidence all over again... i can imagine the downcast faces dat would be so contrasting to those frolicking on the beach 2 wks ago... however, felt touched dat God has been watching over me... dat we were spared from this attack... when i watched cnn later dat nite... the stretch dat was bombed looked so familiar. no doubt it was the streets we've traversed numerous time 2 weeks ago... we sure frequented dat place alot... i've been complacent n remarked dat the bombing would not take place in bali again when faced with comments dat it was an unsafe place. indeed, yesterday hv confirmed the sentiments of many ppl... last yr, steph n miself also almost visited Krabi during the tsunami period but decided against it due to budget constraints. close shave with death. if not with Steph's commitment to meta, we might hv gone to bali during this period too... since it was a good time for me to get away with my boss out of town. i truly believe dat His hands r at work in protecting us.
well, let's cherish every single birthday we celebrate... never know when the last one would b... but whether we get to celebrate the 91st one, dat's not the issue. at the end of the day, where ur residence is for eternity, dat is the crucial consideration. where's yours?
